Last year we celebrated our 100th Peachland Fall fair in grand style and we are excited to welcome in our 101st year in 2020. This year’s theme, “Back to Basics:101” really resonates with me as I embark on my inaugural year as President of the Peachland Fall Fair. I will be starting with the basics of learning what this job, as the leader of the team, entails. I am thankful to have a wonderful executive and group of volunteers - experienced and new - to work with this year. The experienced volunteers will mentor me as I learn the Basics and inspire me in training the new volunteers to have confidence in what they have to contribute in their own way.
I had the honour of working for 3 years with past President, Martha Jenkins, who was able to pass on much of her knowledge after serving 30 years on the Fall Fair committee. To me, Back to Basics does not mean to reinvent the way things have been done, but instead to glean some knowledge from those with more experience in order that we may try something new. So if you have been thinking about entering your items in the Fall Fair, but have been too nervous to try - this is your year! Go Back to the Basics and know that your work is welcome in our wonderful fair!
If you have been looking for a volunteer opportunity that would suit you - join us and get Back to Basics - we look forward to your ideas, modern and traditional, as we believe that we are stronger together. See you at the Fair!
